WE INVITE SCIENTIFIC AND PEDAGOGICAL STAFF TO TAKE PART IN AN INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIP

“ADVANCED PRACTICES AND INNOVATIONS IN HIGHER EDUCATION: INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE OF LITHUANIA”

 

Mokslininkų sąjungos institutas (MSI) (Lithuania), Lietuvos mokslininkų sąjunga (LMS) (Lithuania) in partnership with the NGO “Incubator of Democratic Initiatives” (Ukraine) invites scientific and pedagogical staff to take part in the international internship “Advanced practices and innovations in higher education: international experience of Lithuania”, which will be held in a hybrid format format from February 26 to May 27, 2024.

«Advanced practices and innovations in higher education: international experience of Lithuania» – this is an internship program designed to enrich the professional knowledge and skills of scientific and pedagogical staff from Ukraine. The program covers key aspects of the European educational system, modern teaching methods, grant activities in EU countries and participation in international conferences, contributing to a deep understanding of innovative trends in higher education.

This internship program will be a valuable experience for the following categories of professionals:

  • academic staff and teachers from Ukraine who seek to deepen their knowledge in the field of higher education;
  • specialists in the field of education who are interested in the introduction of innovative approaches and methods, as well as the ethical implementation of artificial intelligence technologies in their scientific and pedagogical activities;
  • experts in the field of educational policy and management who want to expand their understanding of international practices;
  • researchers focused on studying global trends in higher education.

Based on the results of the internship, participants will receive:

  • certificate of completion of scientific and pedagogical internship;
  • certificates of the participant of the round table.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

 

  1. European and Lithuanian higher education systems: comparison of  educational systems, discussion and round table (60 hours).

Seminar “Higher education in Lithuania: structure, innovation and international cooperation”.

  • The structure of higher education in Lithuania: an overview of universities, programs, accreditation processes.
  • Innovations in teaching and research: discussion of modern teaching methods, research initiatives.
  • International cooperation and exchange: exchange programs, cooperation with institutions of the EU and other countries.
  • Challenges and prospects: discussion of current challenges and opportunities for Lithuanian education.

Format: lectures, discussions, meetings with representatives of Lithuanian universities.

Workshop “Overview of the educational systems of individual EU countries.

  • A general overview of higher education systems (on the example of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Germany, France, Sweden and other European countries).
  • Comparison of teaching and assessment methods: a study of approaches to teaching and student assessment.
  • Research on higher education financing opportunities: analysis of higher education funding and how it affects higher education accessibility.
  • Innovation and International cooperation: analysis of innovative approaches and international cooperation programs in European countries.

Round Table “Topical issues of european higher education systems”.

Tasks for participants:

  • Preliminary research: each participant is given the task of conducting a study of one of the European educational systems.
  • Presentation: participants present their findings in an abbreviated form (5-7 minutes each).
  • Discussion: an open discussion with a focus on innovative methods, challenges, and opportunities for collaboration.

 

2.  New and innovative teaching methods: case method, interactive techniques, AI in education (60 hours).

 

Introduction to the case study method:

  • Fundamentals of the case method, its history and philosophy.
  • Development and analysis of participants’ own cases.

Interactive teaching methods:

  • Workshops on group work, role-plays, discussions.
  • Active learning techniques to engage students.

Application of technology in teaching:

  • Interactive digital tools.
  • Overview of modern IT solutions for higher education.

Seminar “Artificial Intelligence in scientific research”:

  • Introduction to AI: history, basic concepts, current state of technology.
  • Applications of AI in science.
  • Examples of use in medicine, physics, social sciences.
  • The Impact of AI on research methodologies and discoveries.
  • Ethical and social aspects:
  • Discussion about the ethics of using AI, including privacy, bias, responsibility.
  • The role of AI in shaping the future of society.
  • The Future of AI in scientific research:
  • The impact of AI on careers in science and education.

Format: lectures from experts, panel discussions, practical workshops, interactive demonstrations.

3. EU grant activities: preparation of project applications, analysis of successful projects, development and presentation of own projects (60 hours).

Fundamentals of EU grant activities and funding:

  • Introduction to EU grant programs.
  • Key stages of project development.

Development of a competitive project:

  • Workshop on goal formulation, project planning and budgeting.
  • Practical tasks based on real cases.

Analysis of successful EU projects:

  • Case studies of successful EU-funded projects.
  • Discussing key success factors and learning best practices.

Preparation and presentation of the project:

  • Development of their own project application by participants.
  • Presentation and critical evaluation of projects in a group.

4. Round table “Horizons of higher education: european experience and global trends“: speeches, exchange of experience and ideas.

The roundtable will feature topics covering the following key areas:

  • Innovations in teaching methods: new approaches and technologies in education.
  • The role of AI in the educational process: the use of artificial intelligence in various fields of science.
  • International cooperation in higher education: strategies and benefits of international educational programs.
  • Challenges and prospects of higher education: discussion of global trends and challenges in higher education.

A certificate of internship is a document confirming the completion of an internship in a country that is a member of the European Union to obtain the academic titles of associate professor, professor and senior researcher in accordance with the Procedure for awarding academic titles to scientific and scientific-pedagogical workers, approved by the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated 14.01.2016 No. 13.

INTERNSHIP SCHEDULE

February 26 – May 19, 2024 – online part of the internship
May 20 – May 27, 2024 – on-site part of the internship,
J. Basanavičiaus St. 6, LT-01118, Vilnius, Lithuania.

Online part of the internship (February 26 – May 19, 2024):

  • Participants attend webinars that will be conducted by leading scientists in Lithuania. Participants will have the opportunity to listen to lectures and reports from experts in various fields of science.
  • A detailed study of the organizational structure and training programs of European universities, which is carried out through the official websites of these educational institutions. Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the features of educational programs, available disciplines, and opportunities for integration.
  • Participation in the round table on the topic “Topical issues of european higher education systems”. Participants will also have the opportunity to attend online lectures from experts, take part in panel discussions and practical workshops, which will expand their knowledge in the field of higher education in European countries.
  • Development of their own project application by the participants of the internship, which they will present and critically evaluate in the group. This will provide an opportunity to develop project work and collective analysis skills.

On-site part of the internship (May 20 – May 27, 2024),
J. Basanavičiaus St. 6, LT-01118, Vilnius:

  • Presentations of universities in Vilnius: direct acquaintance with the educational and material and technical base of the city’s leading universities. Participants will be able to learn more about the educational programs, research opportunities, and structure of these institutions.
  • Classroom work in accordance with the content of the internship program: conducting practical classes, lectures, and research papers in accordance with the chosen internship program. Participants will have the opportunity to actively participate in scientific research and educational processes.
  • Work with library collections in Vilnius: study and use of scientific and educational resources of the city’s university libraries. Participants will have the opportunity to access a rich library collection to support their research.
  • Meeting LMS Members – Lithuania’s leading scientists: internship participants will have an exceptional opportunity to meet Lithuania’s leading scientists and research scientists who are members of the Lithuanian Scientific Society (LMS). During this meeting, participants will have the opportunity to discuss current issues in science and research, as well as take part in interesting exchanges of views and ideas.
  • Participation in the round table on the topic “Horizons of higher education: european experience and global trends”. Participants will have the opportunity to exchange views and ideas with scientists from different countries.
  • Day of city tours and acquaintance with the culture of Lithuania: an excursion day, during which participants will visit interesting places and events, get acquainted with the culture of Lithuania and global trends in higher education.

INTERNSHIP CONDITIONS

In order to participate in the internship, please fill out your application by clicking on the http://surl.li/pnplf. It is important to note that participation in the internship is free of charge for members of the Ukrainian research group in LMS. Since the number of available places is limited, the group is formed based on the applications submitted.

If you are not a member of the group, you can also apply using the http://surl.li/pnorv. It is important to note that for participants who are not members of the Ukrainian research group in LMS, the cost of participation in the internship is 100 euros.

The final stage of the internship (20.05.2024 to 27.05.2024) involves arrival in Vilnius (Lithuania). If, for valid reasons, you will not be able to take part in the full-time stage of the internship, the organizers will offer an equivalent replacement in a remote format. All expenses (travel, accommodation, meals, etc.) for organizing a trip to participate in the full-time stage of the internship are borne by the participant. We will be able to provide information and organizational support.
